TapInfluence announced that it had raise USD5 million in Series B funding. The company operates as a platform that connects marketers with bloggers and other online enthusiasts.
The round was led by existing investor Grotech Ventures. New investors Access Venture Partners also joined the round. Kirk Holland of Access Venture was taken into the company's board of directors as its newest member.
Initially, the company was launched as BlogFrog. The latter offered a social platform for "mommy bloggers". Over time, it had shifted its focus by connecting bloggers with advertisers. TapInfluence President and CEO Rustin Banks described the system as "content marketing on steroids" and "influencer marketing". He also added that TapInfluence, like other content marketing programs, help advertisers spread their message through blog posts and other content with an emphasis on social influence.
The company said that there are more than a thousand sponsored content that passes through TapInfluence every month.
