The tech industry has not heard from Apple Inc about its first-day preorder figures for its new iPhone 5C. Pundits saw this move as very intriguing, considering the fact that the tech giant has been very vocal with its preorder numbers since its 2099 release of iPhone 3GS. Apple has been known to publish its pre-order figures in an early-morning statement the Monday after a Friday sale start.
According to tech news site CNet, a most likely reason why Apple has yet to release its order figures for the iPhone 5C was the sales figures of the new smartphone failed to measure up against figures of similar products from the last few years. On Friday, an analyst had noted that the pre-orders of about 1 million units for the iPhone 5C was good for a first day of release. This was because the figure was 50% of iPhone 5 presales in its first day release, and was more than presales of Apple's iPhone 4S in 2011.
CNet turned to availability of the iPhone 5C for early sale numbers comparison. It noticed that the iPhone 5C has yet to be sold out online unlike its predecessor iPhone 5. Last year's iPhone 5 sold out less than an hour.
When asked if it would made an announcement on iPhone 5C's presales figure, Apple did not respond.
