Harley-Davidson issued a voluntary recall of some of its 2014 motorcycle models. The motorcycle company said they were recalling 29,000 bikes due to potential safety issues. Harley-Davidson sale they had included a "Do Not Ride" notice to those who owned the bikes. Dealers were also given a "Do Not Deliver" order until such time that the affected motorcycles would be fixed.
Models affected by the recall were FLHTCU, FLHTK, FLHTP, FLHX, FLHXS, FLHTKSE and FLHRSE, plus Softail CVOs and Trikes, models FLHTCUTG, FXSBSE and FLSTNSE. The units were constructed from May 3 to October 14 this year.
In July, Harley-Davidson Inc posted an increase in its second quarter 2013 earnings by 13.1% as compared to the same period last year. Net income for the quarter was USD 271.7 million compared to USD 247.3 million in the same period last year. Consolidated revenues for the quarter was USD 1.79 billion, representing an increase from the revenue of USD 1.73 billion posted a year ago.
