An Apple and Mac news aggregator 9to5Mac report said Vice President of Engineering for the iOS Henri Lamiraux had left Apple. Lamiraux logged in over 20 years of working experience at the consumer technology giant based in Cupertino, California. The report also added that Lamiraux made a decision to retire two weeks ago. His profile on LinkedIN, a professional online network. seemed to have confirmed the news.
Since joing Apple in 1990 as a software engineer, the Frenchman had been on top of developing iOS applications and implenetation of iOS features. Lamiraux was lauded earlier on for his help in building the iPhone's first operating system. Lamiraux's role was also critical with processes in fixing bugs in the iOS and manages the iOS frameworks for developers to build applications for Apple.
The shift was reportedly seen as a significant one in the technology community, considering that Lamiraux is the go-to person for the iOS. Lamiraux confided to 9to5Mac reporter that the iOS7 would be his last product release for Apple.
Apple saw about 200 million downloads of its iOS7 in the first five days of its release. This representated an adoption rate of 64%, an incredible ratio to follow, according to Apple chief executive Tim Cook.
