Mobile Accord, the maker of mobile survey platform GeoPoll, announced its USD6.6 million Series A round. It was not clear in a TechCrunch report whether the mobile app developer disclosed the names of the investors who participated in the round. On the other hand, Mobile Accord said the proceeds from the investment round would be used to hire additional staff and increase its footprint.
Mobile Accord Steve Gutterman revealed to TechCrunch that the startup intended to reach 100 million people by year-end, and 500 million by the end of 2014.
GeoPoll dubbed itself as the largest real-time mobile survey platform in the world. The platform had allowed companies to conduct surveys through mobile or Web communication.
Gutterman said, "Our size and breadth allows us to provide market intelligence that is more granular and more iterative than our competitors. We can drill into specifics like gender, age, location and other factors. And we can run surveys on a quarterly, monthly, even daily basis. These dynamics of transformative, and increase our customers' understanding of the markets that matter most to them."
Some of the organizations who had used GeoPoll included the United Nations and the World Food Programme.
