Tertiary textbook firm Bennetts Group has purchased Jason Travel Media's assets from the receivers for an undisclosed amount. The travel and accommodation guide publisher will become a new member of the Bennetts and will continue trading, according to Stuff.co.nz.
Last month, Jasons told its lenders to select a receiver because of the company's declining financial status. The acquisition deal includes Jasons' websites, 62 magazine publications, and over 4,000 distribution outlets across the country, the report said.
The new company will be called Jasons (2013) Ltd. Its newly appointed director is Southland Chamber of Commerce president Sean Woodward. He is also the lawyer of the new firm, the report detailed.
Woodward said of the deal: "The whole idea is to make sure the receivership does not affect the business, which it has not because it has all happened so quickly."
Under the terms of the transaction, all except one of Jasons' team of 70 were offered employment. Bennetts Group planned to restore the Jasons brand and operation, which had faced challenges amid the global economic crisis, Stuff.co.nz reported.
