Cybersecurity company Aorato was able to raise $10 million for its Series B funding round led by well-known venture capital firms and security luminaries. In a statement about the funding, Aorato said investors for the round included Accel Partners, Imperva and Trusteer Co-Founder Mickey Boodaei, Trusteer Co-Founder Rakesh Loonkar, Innovation Endeavors which is a venture capital firm funded by Eric Schmidt and Glilot Capital Partners.
Based in Israel, Aorato was founded on the acknowledgement that by default and design, the Active Directory is already exposed. The company's Directory Services Application Firewall or DAF product fills this blind spot, protecting the Active Directory and ultimately, the organization from advanced targeted threats. DAF profiles the entities that engage with the Active Directory so that suspicious entity behavior is detected in real time.
Aorato was founded by Idan Plotnik who serves as the company's Chief Executive Officer, Michael Dolinsky who acts as the Vice President for Research and Development and Ohad Plotnik who is the firm's Vice President of Professional Services. For the past ten years, they have worked in the field of cyber security. They previously established a Microsoft security subcontractor known as Foreity which was later bought by a leading IT services company. Foreity also received the Microsoft MVP awards for enterprise security, the report said.
In the statement, Aorato Chief Executive Officer Idan Plotnik said, "The timing could not be more appropriate to launch Aorato into the cybersecurity market. 2013 showed the world the risks of advanced threats in parallel to the implications of insiders' access to sensitive corporate data. Both proved the need for a technology like Aorato to make a difference within the enterprise security posture."
Accel Partners Partner Kevin Comolli said Accel is looking forward to working with Aorato. He considers the company's Directory Services Application Firewall to be a unique solution for a very vital part of enterprise infrastructure.
