Dark Horse by Katy Perry receives online petition from Muslims claiming blasphemous

By

Katy Perry's newest single Dark Horse is currently facing an online petition, said a report from theguardian.com. The said petition demanded Perry's video to be taken off social media site YouTube and has already attracted more than 50,000 signatures. This was according to petitioners at change.org who said that Dark House has portrayed Islamic blasphemy. Petitioners were alarmed after a pendant was reportedly seen in the music video to have the inscription of the word Allah.

The music video Dark Horse, which was released last February 20, had already listed more than 30 million views on YouTube. The video features bizarre images from ancient Egyptian mythology where Katy turns her suitors into sand. One of her suitors that were shown at the beginning of the video was said to have worn an Arabic pendant that turned into dust.

Currently, Katy's new single Dark Horse is at the number six spot on the UK singles chart.
