Department of Corrections confirms Lil Boosie release

A representative from the Louisiana Department of Corrections confirmed the news that rapper Lil Boosie was finally released from prison. Torrence Hatch, the rapper's real life name, came after the announcement from a representative of Atlantic Records, saying Lil Boosie would appear on a press conference on March 10.

Lil Boosie was sentenced in 2009 after he pleaded guilty to a third offense for illegal possession of marijuana. His sentence was added eight more years after he pleaded guilty in trying to smuggle marijuana while locked up in jail. Pam LaBorde, DOC representative, confirmed that the rapper has left the prison on March 5, after seven in the evening.

LaBorde added that Lil Boosie was allowed to meet at least one person and his lawyer after being sent out to a Sheriff's Department in West Feliciana. The rapper's parole and probation included a provision that he must report whenever he plans to leave the state or that he is not allowed to leave the state at all. However, LaBorde said that it was too early to tell the details of the restrictions.
