Huge blaze occurs in a construction site in San Francisco, prompts evacuations

By

On Tuesday night, a construction site blazed tremendously that got half of the firefighters on duty in San Francisco responding as the fire threatens nearby buildings. This was according to a report from CNN.

Homeowners whose houses were just across the burning site were reportedly evacuated. Mindy Talmadge of the San Francisco Fire Department said that they have evacuated “several hundred” residents.

Talmadge also said, "The buildings across the street that are inhabited were evacuated. The heat from the fire was making the windows pop and firefighters had to put up a water curtain to protect the buildings."

Authorities added that the entire structure would likely collapse following the blaze and water used to put the fire off.

Mayor Edwin M. Less also remarked that an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire. "The city and the Red Cross will work closely with any displaced residents of nearby homes. Thanks to the leadership and determined action of our Fire Department, the very real potential of severe damage to other homes, businesses and structures in the neighborhood was avoided," The Mayor said.
