Lord Ballyedmond, the wealthiest man in Northern Ireland, died in a helicopter crash today. Ireland’s Conservative peer died in the crash along with three others while travelling in Norfolk. This was according to a report from The Independent.
Born Edward Haughey, the 70 year old peer was estimated to have a fortune amounting to GBP650 million through his veterinary pharmaceutical business established in the 1960s. The helicopter that he was riding went down near Gillingham Hall, a huge estate owned by Lord Ballyedmond.
The reason behind the crash was not yet determined, continued The Independent report. Meanwhile, an investigation is still being conducted pointing to fog as possible factor for the crash.
Three other victims on board with Lord Ballyedmond were confirmed as male.
According to a police representative, the flight was heading to the Northern part of Ireland. On the other hand, the Air Accident Investigation Branch said that it had already sent a team to investigate on the crash site.
