Iron deficiency signs, most common in the US

By

Iron deficiency is common in the United States, reported ABC News, citing women to be those who are at greatest risk. This nutritional deficiency can lead to anemia if left untreated. Iron is crucial in for hemoglobin production. It is a protein that helps the red blood cells in the body effectively deliver oxygen.

There are symptoms to detect if you are having inadequate iron in your body. According to an ABC News column, always feeling tired even with less physical activity is an indication you have iron deficiency. For women, heavy periods are also a sign of the nutritional deficiency, said Dr. Jacques Moritz at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt in New York City. Having fair and pale skin are two different things. If your skin is pale and sickly, this shows lack of iron as hemoglobin gives the blood red color, making your skin appeal rosy. Feeling anxious for no reason, having constant headaches, restless leg syndrome and hair loss are also signs of iron deficiency.
