On Friday, the United Nations Security Council would meet to discuss the Ukraine crisis. This was after reports had surfaced that Russian troops were building up in the border of the country, a Fox News report said. The military troops reported to be on the Ukrainian border were reported to have hidden their troops and equipment in camouflage.
A private meeting is expected on Friday following Thursday’s UN General Assembly. Fox news reported that the General Assembly had approved a resolution stating Russia’s move to take over the Crimean Peninsula was illegal. It also affirmed the territorial integrity of Ukraine’s territory.
Meanwhile, a Reuters report said that the vote came after Pentagon stated that there were signs showing Russian forces were holding legitimate military exercises near the border of Ukraine.
According to Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby, “We've seen no specific indications that these -- that exercises -- are taking place."
