After shifting to a cross-platform format, BlackBerry's messaging app BBM has seen steady growth in its user base. BlackBerry's new chief, John Chen, said the app has now ht the 85-million mark monthly active users, according to TechCrunch.
Chen explained: "We have a very solid BBM monetization plan. We're seeing a solid uptick in multi platform users, driving growth in total registration. Like last quarter, growing the BBM user base is a top priority and we have a number of initiatives driving this."
BlackBerrry first rolled out the BBM app to Android and iOS in October. The app, which now has 113 million registered users, will soon be rolled out to Windows Phone and pre-loaded on selected Nokia units. Since Chen took the seat as the company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), BBM's Channels has climbed from 200,000 to 500,000 with user engagement hitting 11.5 posts daily, the report detailed.
Chen revealed that BlackBerry will continue to capitalize on BBM with a new messaging service for enterprises called the eBBM Suites, TechCrunch reported.
