Disney’s animated film Frozen has set a new record high in history. The Oscar winning film has become the top grossing animated movie of all time this weekend. Frozen has reached a hefty USD$1.072 billion both in international and domestic sales, reported TODAY.
Frozen’s billon-dollar success was a first for Disney Animation Studios. The animated film out-ranks Toy Story 3, which originally holds the record for top grossing animated movie earning USD$1.063 billion. This made Frozen listed on the No.10 largest blockbuster of all time. The Dark Knight Rises is next on Frozen's hit list with USD$1.084 billion earnings.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Frozen now sits 7th among Disney's films. It also surpassed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Closet that earned USD1.06 billion, reported TODAY.
The animated movie stars the voices of Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell. It tells about the story of Elsa, a young princess who was capable of making snow and ice. After years of hiding to protect her sister Anna from her power, her secret was revealed on the night of her coronation.
