Samsung Galaxy S3 users particularly those with i9300 will not get the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware. Samsung announced that the international model for Samsung Galaxy S3 will not receive the OTA. Fortunately for those who still want to update, they can use a custom ROM to experience the Android 4.4.2 software.
According to a report by Android Geeks, Samsung Galaxy S3 users can choose from a range of Android 4.4.2 KitKat custom ROMs. Most of these ROMs are stable. However, users should not expect the ROMs to feature Samsung custom components or TouchWiz. There should be enough apps and other features to keep users occupied with the update.
Users who wish to use the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update can try the Fusion Boeffla ROM. The ROM comes from XDA senior member Dragon7780. Some of the features included in the ROM:
- Recents Rambar
- Navigationbar by slimroms

Prior to installation or update, users should install the required USB drivers for the device. The USB Debugging mode should be enabled. To do it, connect the device to the computer and work with Android SDK. Open Settings then go to About Phone. Click on the Build Number a number of times until the "You are Now Developer" notification appear. Go to Settings and enable Debugging under Developer options. Head over to XDA developer thread for more information and instructions on how to install the custom ROM.
