Apple has finally released another OS X Mavericks update through the OS X 10.9.3.The newest Mavericks operating firmware comes with enhanced 4K display support for the latest Mac as well as the 15-inch MacBook Pro. Likewise, Apple also promised that the update will come with bug fixes and a variety of improvements. More importantly, uses can expect an expanded Max VRAM amounting to 1536MB. The update is now available for download.
The download is available at Mac App Store. Apple suggests that all Mac owners install the update to improve their overall Mac experience. According to the company, the OS X 10.9.3 offers greater stability, compatibility and security. It should also be easier for users to sync contacts and other information with their Mac and iOS devices. Other reported improvements include more reliable VPN connections using IPsec and updated version of Safari version 7.0.3.
One downside is that the Retina output mode support is that it is only available to the late 2013 15-inch MacBook Pro. The 13-inch model has yet to receive the display support. The unavailability of the Retina output mode to the 13-inch model is due to the Thunderbolt Display used by Apple. The display system cannot accommodate 4K resolution thus the 4K support is limited to third-party components.
Apple Insider reported that prior to the official release, the OS X 10.9.3 required nine pre-releases and a long beta period. The official release followed Apple's implementation of the beta seed program. Under the beta seed program, anyone can test the program as long as they provide "quality and usability feedback." This also gives Apple the chance to see user's feedback before the actual release allowing the company to make the necessary changes for better user experience.
According to a report by iClarified, another advantage that users can have when updating is an increased VRAM up to 1536MB. This should improve the overall performance of the Mac device. To view the display update, users can go to About This Mac > More Info > System Report > Graphics/Display.
