Samsung released its Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship device last April following announcement at the Mobile World Congress. For a few months now, the device has received mixed reviews. Here are some of the common problems and fixes for Samsung's latest handset.
1.) Water Damage
Many people figure that water resistant means waterproof, but there is a big difference. A lot of users have been reporting water damaged Samsung S5's. With its IP67 rating, it can be submerged into depths of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes, but it is not capable of withstanding high pressure water jets - like your faucet for example.
Fix: DO NOT try to turn it on. Open your phone up and try to dry it off with a towel as much as you can. Also try placing it in a bowl of grains of rice because they absorb moisture. Please wait as long as you can before turning your phone on (try waiting at least 24 hours), so that it has time to dry out.
2.) Lag
It has come to users' attention that lag is a constant, nagging issue compared to its competitors. Users are generally blaming the TouchWiz interface and bloatware. The lag being complained about is usually encountered when unlocking the phone, tapping the home button, loading or exiting an application, and occasionally when typing.
Fix: There is a chance that the animations are giving you the lag. To turn the animations off, tap and hold on a blank space on your home screen and select Home screen settings > Transition effect > None. As well as Settings > Lock screen > Unlock effect then set the Unlock Effect to None.
3.) Slow Camera
Does your camera take a while to focus and take a photo? The Galaxy S5 should be a quick shooter, so it may be because of your camera settings.
Fix: Turn on the camera and tap on the settings icon by the lower left corner then turn Picture Stabilization off. It improves the quality of low light photos by prolonging the shutter speed. If the lighting is good, there is no need for this, since it will only slow your camera down.
