Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy S5 in February with the official release in April. Similar to how Samsung has done it with its other flagships, it appears the company has been preparing several variants of the S5 as well. According to reports, the Korean tech giant plans on putting out a luxury edition of the handset. The company has delivered a rugged edition of its flagship through AT&T's Galaxy S5 Active, now it appears the Galaxy S5 Prime will soon be released.
At the start of May, leaked photos of the S5 Prime came out. According to the photos, the device will ship with a metal build and QHD (2K) resolution display. Another sighting of the device came from an Indian import site. According to Gizbot, the Prime edition of Samsung's latest flagship was listed as SM-G906 on Zauba. Since the Galaxy S5 was labeled G900, a device with a G906 number can be categorized under this series.
The device is in New Delhi already. According to the report, the device came from South Korea but was shipped to India for R&D purposes. It is not clear yet what Samsung plans on doing with the device and what additional research it requires. Nonetheless, reports also noted that the device does not feature the usual 5.2-inch screen. Instead, it will have a 5.1-inch display.
Industry observers and analysts expect the price of the Prime edition to be slightly higher than the original flagship especially with its target market. Samsung has not released an official statement yet about the device. If the company will push through the release of the device then it will compete with the likes of HTC One M8 Prime.
Reported features for the HTC One M8 Prime include 5.5-inch display, 2k resolution, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 or 810 CPU and 3GB RAM.
