Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE Android 4.4.2 Root Guide, Bring Galaxy S5 Experience to S4

By

Samsung Galaxy S4 owners can also bring the Samsung Galaxy S5 experience to their handsets via the XXUGNE5 Android 4.4.2 software. That is, people can root the XXUGNE5 to the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 variant. It is best for users to know more about rooting prior to installation of any update.

Before rooting, all important settings and information should be backed up. Rooting can wipe all information from the user despite allowing users to download and save root programs on the device. Parties who provide the update cannot be held responsible for what happens to the device following installation. Users can install at their own risk.

Important Note: The CF-Auto-Root guide is specifically for Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 sporting on Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-Core CPU with LTE. It does not cater to variants such as GT-I9500 featuring Exynos 5. Rooting offers many benefits to users. According to Team Android, it allows people to put together different stock firmware editions into one. Prior to rooting, users should satisfy the following:

  • Enable USB Debugging mode on the device.
  • Charge the device at least 85% prior to rooting and installation.

Rooting Steps:

1. Download and save the Samsung Galaxy S4 CF-Auto-Root Android 4.4.2 Package on the computer. Extract files from the zip.

2. Download ODIN v3.09. This will help the rooting process later.

3. Switch the device off. Boot the device to Download mode by pressing the volume down and home buttons together. Hold the Power button and wait for the Android logo to appear. Confirm entry with the power button.

4. Make sure all USB drivers have been installed in the computer.

5. On the computer, go to ODIN. Connect the computer to the device. See if the ID:COM box has turned to yellow featuring the COM port number. Wait until the whole process becomes complete.

6. Select the file to install or flash.

7. Choose 'PDA' > 'CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip'.

8. In ODIN, choose Auto Reboot along with F. Reset the options if they have not been done so.

9. Choose start to proceed.

10. Wait for the handset to go into Recovery Mode following installation. Install the root files and see if the box became green.

11. Disconnect the Samsung Galaxy S4 from the computer.
