Google announced its Android L platform at its last I/O event offering a sneak peak on what people can expect on their Android devices soon. The upcoming platform offers a variety of new features guaranteeing fresh user experience and more functionality. Nonetheless, according to Lifehacker, there are several unannounced features discovered about the upcoming platform.
Do Not Disturb Mode Will Silence Incoming Notifications
Google does not like being left behind. Apple introduced their Do Not Disturb mode that will block any notifications while turned on thus Google's Do Not Disturb mode does the same. Users can turn it on in the Quick Settings panel and set Do Not Disturb for a certain period of time, or until they enable the notifications.
Adaptive Brightness
Auto-brightness is a very useful feature for some, and not for others. In the past, users either had the option to set the brightness manually, or set it to auto-brightness. Auto-brightness would give the phone complete control over the brightness settings. In the Android L, there is a new feature called Adaptive Brightness that combines both manual and auto brightness. Users adjust the brightness manually to however bright they want it to be. When a user sets the preferred brightness, the screen will maintain the preferred brightness and adjust based on the light around the user.
Swipe to Access the Dialer from the Lock Screen
In addition to being able to swipe to the right on the lock screen to open the Camera app easily, Google now allows users to swipe to the left on the lock screen to quickly go to the dialer application.
Turn Off Notifications on a Per-App Basis All From One Place
Google has made it easier to turn of notifications from several apps all at once. Simply go to Settings > Sound & Notifications > Showing Notifications > App Notifications. Users will then be presented with a list of the applications installed on their phone. Tap any given application and then you will see the "Show notifications" check box.
