Those who are wondering whether Google will still continue with its Nexus program should worry no more as Google confirms it will still be continuing the line. This means that the internet giant could be well preparing for release of the Nexus 6. Likewise, the company has also acknowledged the existence of the Silver program although it did not provide further comments about the matter.

David Burke, who serves as the head of Android engineering and Nexus program at Google, clarified in an interview with ReadWrite that the company does not plan on killing the Nexus line. In fact, the Nexus 6 may be arriving this fall featuring the Android L platform. Google has also provided an earlier access to developers on its upcoming mobile operating system.

Google's Android blog reiterated what the company wanted to achieve with its Mobile OS:

"At Google, our focus is providing a seamless experience for users across all of the screens in their lives. An important component to that is making sure that you as developers have all of the tools necessary to easily deploy your apps across to those screens."

"Increasingly, Android is becoming the fabric that weaves these experiences together, which is why you'll be excited about a number of things we unveiled today."

Burke said that people may have been confused about the plans of the companies with leaks and predictions.

"People just get excited by concepts and forget why we do things," he discussed in the interview. "We are still invested in Nexus." Currently, Google has released the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10.

"When we are working, there are sort of two outputs. We're building a Nexus device and we're building the open source code. There is no way you can build the open source code without the phone or tablet or whatever you are building. You have to live and breathe the code you are developing. You can't build a platform in the abstract, you have to build a device (or devices). "Burke discussed.

"So, I don't think can or will ever go away. And then, I think Nexus is also interesting in that it is a way of us explaining how we think Android should run. It is a statement, almost a statement of purity in some respects. I don't see why we would ever turn away from that, it wouldn't make sense."

Nexus 6 will reportedly be coming with a quad-core 2.7GHz processor, 5.5-inch 2K display and 3GB RAM.

"Android Silver is not something that we are commenting on right now," Burke said about the Silver program.
