"Fast & Furious 7" Final Scene Revealed as Filming Draws to a Close

By

Filming has begun to slow down on "Fast & Furious 7."

Recently, director James Wan tweeted a photo of himself and Tony Jaa, to commemorate Jaa's last day of shooting on the film. Martial arts star Jaa is a newcomer to the "Fast & Furious" franchise.

Just one day later, Wan tweeted another photo, this time of himself and star Dwayne Johnson, holding a bouquet of flowers and celebrating Johnson's last day on set. This is Johnson's third "Fast & Furious" picture, having previously starred in the fifth and sixth installments.

This is all in line with previous reports that the seventh "Fast & Furious" film would wrap sometime in July. Also in the reports was a description of the film's final sequence, which will reportedly feature some six hundred extras, to be culled from the nearby town of Rosamond, near Bakersfield CA.

It's unclear just why the film needs such a gigantic crowd- whether it's for the finish line of a monumental race, or some kind of riot or celebration scene is unknown.

But this massive final scene, along with the expensive technical budget needed to replicate the late actor Paul Walker, has insurers worried about the titanic cost of the film. Walker passed away last November in a tragic car crash, and to fill his part in "Fast & Furious 7," Universal has hired two of the actor's brothers as stand-ins and face replacements. Peter Jackson's Weta company has been brought on to meld the brothers into Walker's previously recorded scenes, to replicate a full performance.

Despite the loss of Walker, Universal has plans to continue the series as far as it will go, and at least an eigth installment is in the works already. Given how successful this franchise has been in the past, it doesn't seem like it'll be stopping anytime soon.

"Fast & Furious 7" is set for release on April 10, 2015.
