Nine More Characters Rumored to Join Nintendo's Upcoming "Smash Bros." Sequel

By

Nintendo fans already have a lot to look forward to, with two new editions of the company's "Super Smash Bros" series set to release shortly. The two games, simply titled "Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS" and "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U," will release on October 3rd, 2014 on the 3DS, and sometime in late 2014 on the Wii U.

As is natural for any "Super Smash Bros." release, fans have been trying to figure out which characters will be added, which characters will be cut, and which surprise non-Nintendo characters will make it into the new installment (so far, Mega Man and Pac-Man, two old-school video game characters from outside Nintendo's ranks, have been added).

But one fan took things a little farther, making a fan video that showed the characters fans have been clamoring for. The video, done in the style of a wrestling game and not in a typical 2D "Smash Bros." style, features fights from the characters already confirmed to be in the next "Smash Bros." installment (like Mario, Donkey Kong and Pac-Man), but also fan favorites like Mr. Game & Watch that have not made it in yet.

As well, a new report claims that up to nine characters have yet to be revealed, including major characters like Jigglypuff and Captain Falcon and Ness. These three have been included in every "Super Smash Bros." game thus far, and removing them from the newest game may draw the ire of "Smash Bros." fans worldwide.

Nintendo has already added nine new characters to the game, so another nine may go against the words of "Smash Bros." leader Masahiro Sakurai, who revealed that the game would be a little smaller and more trimmed-down than previous installments.

The new "Smash Bros." games are expected to bring in big sales for the Wii U console, which has been performing sluggishly compared to competitors from Sony and Microsoft.
