"The Real Housewives of New York City" has been struggling in the ratings recently. And in the case of most shows, that would be cause for cancellation.
But not for "Real Housewives." Instead, the latest rumor is that Bravo is looking to replace all of its current New York cast members, barring a single Housewive- Ramona Singer. Aviva Drescher is also reported to come back, but her return is less certain than Singer's and will most likely be a significantly diminished role (if she returns at all).
So, according to Radar Online, Sonja Morgan, Heather Thomas, Luann de Lesseps and Carole Radzwill will all be removed from the show at the end of its current season.
According to the report, too much of the drama involving the New York "Real Housewives" has been happening in the outside world and in the tabloids, but not on the actual show. This has led to the show's plummeting ratings, which are the main cause of the rumored shake-up. A June 17 episode of "Real Housewives" gathered less than a million viewers, which are the lowest numbers since the show's first season, in 2008.
Radar Online's source claims that ""The ladies just aren't connecting with viewers and they need something major to happen to them." As well, audiences should expect the new cast members "to be over-the-top wealthy and very charismatic with multiple estates."
Despite being the only cast member with a continuing stake in the show, Ramona Singer's private life isn't going as smoothly as imagined. Recently, Singer made the news when her husband's mistress began a lengthy legal battle with Singer and husband Mario Singer. This comes after Mario Singer reportedly left his mistress to work on strengthening his marriage.
Meanwhile, on "The Real Housewives," the women went on a camping trip and visited a rodeo.
"The Real Housewives of New York City" is currently airing on Bravo.
