HTC's Volantis continues to be a hot item especially after several reports tipped it to be the Nexus 9 tablet. According to recent information, the Nexus 9 or Volantis slate will feature a 64-bit Tegra K1 processor and aluminum body. It will also offer 2560 x 1600 resolution. Can the Nexus 9 replicate the same success as the Nexus 7? Will it be a killer or a failure for Google?
September and the rest of the holiday season will be busy especially with tipped releases from Apple and Samsung. It appears Google will not let the two giants have the rest of the year to their own and will also join the party. According to reports, Google and HTC have been gearing up for the release of a new tablet through the Nexus 9. More importantly, new leaks about the device suggest a new processor choice for Google including bumped up resolution and new dimensions.
Well known tipster @evleaks revealed some details about the Volantis including disproving the previous reported macro shot of the device. According to the tipster, the shot was a fake. GSM Arena has also reported about the same thing. The report from @evleaks hints that the Volantis device may feature an 8.9-inch display with up to 2560 x 1600 pixels.
It also appears that Google and HTC plans on including the WQXGA technology. Reports also noted that the device may come with a 5 or 8MP primary camera with full-HD recording capabilities, 5GB DDR3 RAM and 64GB internal storage. Among other details that surfaced, the 64-bit Tegra K1 processor has been the standout. The tipster also clarified that the RAM details of the HTC Volantis may change in the future as it is not final yet. HTC may also include the BoomSound feature that has been a staple among its other devices.
Analysts placed the starting price of the 16GB Volantis to be at $399 while the 32GB will be at $499.
