'Game of Thrones' Season 5 update: shooting begins in Spain, thousands audition for casting call for extras

The fourth season of "Game of Thrones" ended last month with a lot of shocking twists that left fans wanting more. Season 5 will not be back until next year, but it's never too early to start discussing one of HBO's most beloved fantasy shows. Here are the things that we know about it so far.

Warning: Major spoilers ahead. If you haven't seen the past seasons, look for the nearest exit now!

The cast and crew are currently filming in Spain. According to Zap2It, filming started earlier this month in Sevilla, which will be the set of Dorne, where Prince Oberyn--the man brutally killed by The Mountain in season 4--was from.

"HBO is pleased to confirm that a portion of season five of GAME OF THRONES will be shot on several natural locations in the Province of Sevilla. Specifics on the locations will be announced closer to the time of production," said the network in a statement.

A casting call for extras also reportedly drew in 10,000 submissions in the first 24 hours. Spanish production company Fresco Film Services said on its Facebook page that they will try to reply to all the cast hopefuls soon.

Meanwhile, in an Instagram AMA, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) said that there is going to be a "changed" Arya. Season 4 ended with the youngest Stark daughter heading to Braavos--will she finally see Jaqen H'gar again in season 5?

Season 5 will once again get material from George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. This time, it will be focused on books "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons."

No specific date has been provided by HBO so far, but based on the consistent GoT yearly schedule, it's possible that it will be back sometime in April 2015.
