George RR Martin was reported to be so immersed in his work and planned to complete his next highly anticipated novel, "The Winds of Winter" for a 2016 publication ahead of the next "Game of Thrones" season.
"Game of Thrones" recently aired an episode titled, "The Dance of Dragons," which showed Stannis burning his own child Shireen alive as a tribute to the Lord of Light. The episode received many criticisms from fans, but producers David Benioff and D.B Weiss revealed that the storyline was contributed by author George RR Martin himself.
HBO series recently aired one of the most controversial scenes to hit the television in an episode titled, "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken." One of the major and well loved characters in the series, Sansa Stark was raped by her new husband Ramsay Bolton in the said episode. Martin and the network received a lot of backlash for airing the episode, which some called inhumane and disgraceful to watch on TV. Martin defended the recent episode and said that the scene was just one of the show's butterfly effects.
George RR Martin promised that "The Winds of Winter" will be released before "Game of Thrones" season six premieres in Spring of 2016. However, several reports came out claiming that the 66-year-old author will be releasing the sixth book to the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series on June 2016. Several fans are already speculating on the identity of the dragon's third head including Young Griff, fake Aegon Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister.
"The Winds of Winter" is expected to be released before "Game of Thrones" premieres its sixth season on TV. Fans are already coming up with several theories and speculations, including the role of the High Sparrow in the upcoming book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. A fan-theory speculates that the High Sparrow is working for Varys while the Faith Militant continues to build its army and grow in power.
George RR Martin announced that he will be reading a chapter from his sixth book, "The Winds of Winter" during the Conquest 46 event in Kansas, Missouri.
