A few months ago, a fan-made poster sparked rumors that a "Friends" reunion is happening.
The famous 90s sitcom is turning 10 this year, and the poster showed the cast--Chandler (Matthew Perry), Joey (Matt Le Blac), Monica (Courteney Cox), Pheobe (Lisa Kudrow), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), and Ross (David Schwimmer)--already in their 40s.
A lot of fans got excited, but unfortunately, two "Friends" cast members have recently confirmed that there will be no reunion.
In an interview with the LA Times, Le Blanc, who recently got an Emmy nomination for "Episodes" (an NBC show where he plays an exaggerated version of himself), he finally put all the rumors to rest:
"As far as a reunion project, that's just not in the cards. I think that show was about a finite period in your life -- after college and before you start your family where your friends are your family -- and that's what that show was about. So to go beyond that doesn't feel like you'd do justice to that."
"I think it's best to imagine what those characters are doing now versus to see those characters. No one wants to see us in our 40s (laughs). Joey's still struggling as an actor. It'd just be sad," he added.
Courteney Cox, also confirmed that there is no reunion in the works. In an interview with David Letterman in April, she said, "It's not gonna happen," adding that she cannot even round up the cast for dinner.
She adds: "I can get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry. Matt LeBlanc canceled last time right at the last minute, Schwimmer lives here (in New York City,) so it's just not gonna happen."
Tom Charlie Thompson, the 21-year-old who made the fake poster apologized in January: "I'm very sorry for any confusion caused. I have to say that the poster wasn't created with the intention to upset, anger or fool anyone. It wasn't even supposed to be seen by many people."
"Friends" wrapped up in 2004. Though there hasn't been any show reunion since, the cast members were able to work together in other projects--Cox, Le Blanc, and Schwimmer for instance, guested in Kudrow's Showtime comedy "Web Therapy"; and Aniston, Perry, and Kudrow have appeared in Cox's ABC show "Cougar Town."
