Carrie Underwood will be gracing the big screen when she returns to sing the "Sunday Night Football" theme song.
NBC Sports Group recently announced the debut of a cinema spot that will star the Checotah native and 2005 American Idol grand winner. Carrie will be performing "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" which will serve as the opening theme for the no. 1 program of primetime television, Tulsaworld reports.
The six-time Grammy winner and multi-platinum recording artist claimed to have freshened up her version of the song-which is set on Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You" - for her second season performing with NBC Sports. "I got to go back into the studio and make a few tweaks," says Underwood who recorded her performance on June 25 in Los Angeles. The concert will supposedly feature a roaming party-concert theme with lots of lights to establish high-energy, Newsok says.
Carrie will not be the only one gracing the kickoff. NFL favorites Peyron Manning, Terrel Suggs, Eli Manning, and J.J. Watt are also reported to appear among other football stars. Coordinating producer Fred Gaudelli also promised more interaction between Underwood and the players amidst a sea of screaming fans.
The cinema spot will be a 2 ½ minute behind-the-scene footage featuring the making of Carrie's opening act. NBC Sports has announced that the promo will be aired in more than 19,000 Cinemark, AMC, and Regal theaters nationwide, the GACTv blog reports.
In more Carrie Underwood news, the American Idol alumna will also be opening for the 2014 Super Bowl. The kickoff video will have "high-end digital graphics, the Lombardi trophy replicated larger than life and the traditional Super Bowl Roman numerals taking various shapes across the screen," Gaudelli shares.
According to Underwood, "I feel the glamour a bit more in that one. It's a game like no other, so they wanted to make it have an opening like no other."
