Netflix award-winning political drama "House of Cards" was renewed last February, and is expected to air again sometime next year. Here are some things that we know about the upcoming season.
Warning: spoilers ahead.
Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, is now the most powerful man in the world--the President of the United States. Using tools like lies, manipulation, and murder to get what he has always wanted, viewers are asking one question: will season 3 finally show his downfall?
The series is based on "The Final Cut," the third installment of the British TV series also called "House of Cards." At the end of the final season, Francis Urquhart (Spacey's counterpart) is killed by his own wife Elizabeth, assassinated by a sniper she hired herself. Will President Underwood suffer the same fate?
Bustle theorizes in an article: "She'd rather her husband be killed than see him disgraced. That's pretty cold. But we already know that Claire Underwood has ice flowing through her veins, so it's easy to imagine her arriving at a similar solution."
We also saw in Season 2 that Frank's advisor Doug Stamper (played by Michael Kelly) was brutally hit by a rock to the head, so we've yet to see what's next for him.
Even Kelly is uncertain about his fate in the show. In an interview with Huffpost Live, he said: Kelly admitted his own uncertainty in an interview: "I don't know -- they haven't officially said. And with television contracts, as an actor, when you sign those contracts you sign for a long time. So technically they still own me, but I don't know yet."
Kelly added that he has tried a lot to find out what's next for Doug: "I wanna know! You go to the writers' room and there's black tarps over everything. You don't get to know anything."
Meanwhile, the cast and crew are back on the set of the Emmy-winning series, but they have all been very quiet. Last month, Spacey--who was part of the stage production of "Clarence Darrow" in London--said: "What a blast it was to do. Now back to Washington for... well, you know."
Like in the previous two seasons, Netflix will release all the new episodes at once. The length has not yet been disclosed, but it's possible that it will once again have 13 episodes. The show is expected to return sometime in 2015.
