Because Netflix released the second season of "Orange is the New Black" all in the same day, many "Orange is the New Black" fans binge-watched the entire season in a single day, and now have 364 more days of waiting until new episodes premiere.
Lucky for them, new updates on the third season have just come down the pipeline. A new report cites a "June 2015" release date for the critically acclaimed series' third season. This makes sense, as both the first and second seasons premiered in June of 2013 and 2014, respectively. Netflix hasn't said a thing about wanting to shift the "Orange is the New Black" release date. However, they also haven't said concretely when that release date will be.
As well, new set photos have been snapped that hint at a backstory episode for the character Big Boo. The photos show an '80s-era set and period-appropriate costumes and hairstyles on the extras, as well as notes for the character of "Carrie Black." Carrie Black, of course, is the name of Big Boo before she started calling herself Big Boo.
Because Big Boo is getting a backstory, fans have begun to speculat that the third season may see the end of Big Boo, much like the character of Tricia Miller was killed off in the same episode that detailed her backstory.
In other "Orange is the New Black" news, it has been revealed that Laura Prepon, who plays Alex Vause in the series, will be appearing in every single episode of the third season. Jason Biggs, who plays Larry Bloom, is rumored to have a smaller role, but is still enthusiastic about the series.
Biggs recently spoke about his part on "Orange is the New Black," and how long he thinks the show will continue for.
"Let's think about it realistically. In terms of the way they have spaced it out so far, the first season took place over a few months. And I think the same for this season; maybe less time, actually, in Season 2. So maybe this is like a month or two. The truth is, they could stretch this thing for a long time."
