“America’s Got Talent” Eliminations: 47 Acts Advance to Next Round; One More Act to Be Chosen Via 'Today' Competition

NBC's hit reality talent series just made its major round of cuts. The latest episode of Season 9 of the "America's Got Talent" had judges Howie Mandel, Howard Stein, Heidi Klum and Spice Girl Mel B narrow down its over a hundred qualified contestants down to just 47 acts. The hosts had eliminated more than half of the contestants that made it through the show's first round and based their decision on who's qualified to go through the show's performer categories, Enstarz reported. In the latest episode, viewers of the show have seen various acts herded into categories, which include unique dance groups, powerful vocal groups, bands, and solo performers.

Kellie Glover, who auditioned for the show back in 2009, is moving to AGT's next round along with US army veteran Paul Leti. Leti became one of the crowd's favorite thanks to his impressive Rihanna cover. Anna Clendening, who had a panic attack onstage ahead of her performance during the first rounds, also made it through.

The Hart Dance Team and the Dragon House dancers were also among the lucky acts that made it through the next round. In the music acts category, The Willis Clan and the One Voice Children's choir have also advanced to the competition's next round. Brothers Kieran and Finian Makepeace are also moving forward in the talent show.

While it was clearly a relief for some who were able to go through the next round in the AGT competition, NJ.com said others were not so lucky, including some of the fan favorites. They include the Beach Avenue band from Connecticut, 84-year-old Ray Jessel, and the "Russian roulette" magician Rogue.

Meanwhile, a 48th contestant will be added to the chosen 47 as soon as the "Today: show announces its winner of the morning program's "Today's Got Talent", a competition that will look for another act whom the show could send to compete with the rest of the AGT qualifiers in the live show at Radio City Music Hall. The winner will be decided by the viewers, who will vote for their favorite talent act in the morning show's competition.

"America's Got Talent" airs Tuesday at 9 pm on NBC.
