"Survivor: San Juan del Sur," the 29th season of the reality adventure competition series, is set to premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. according to a press release by CBS. While the most recent season, "Survivor: Cagayan," would be having a two-hour premiere, the upcoming pilot episode of the new season will air for 90 minutes, Enstarz reported.

The reality show is returning to Nicaragua for the second time. The country was the location of the franchise' 22nd season, "Survivor: Redemption Island." Aside from Nicaragua, the reality show franchise has also featured some of the most famous secluded islands in the Philippines in the last four seasons. Moreover, the press release notes that "Survivor: San Juan del Sur" will feature a brand new group of castaways. The new season would be also combining some elements of the last two seasons as well. Just like in "Survivor: Blood vs. Water," each castaway would be pitted against or playing with a loved one or a significant other. The new season, just like "Survivor: Cagayan," will have 18 new players. In early June, it was reported that one of the pairs that were set to compete for the upcoming season decided to drop out before filming begins. The season was originally slated to feature 10 pairs of castaways, or a total of 20 players.

In previous reports as cited by Enstarz, host Jeff Probst confirmed that the upcoming season will not feature "Redemption Island." In the "Survivor" franchise's mechanics, the island is a secluded area where eliminated contestants proceed and face different challenges for a chance to be back on the game. However, there have been hints that viewers will get to see another twist in the competition in the upcoming season that would be similar to that of Redemption Island.

CBS viewers will get to see more reality television on Sept. 24 as the station will also aire the finale of "Big Brother 16" following "Survivor: San Juan del Sur"'s 90-minute premiere.
