There is a popular saying that says, "Health is wealth." Another familiar slogan says, "An apple a day makes the doctor go away." So, is Apple really entering the field of medicine and health?
Speculations regarding these have been circling the industry since the beginning of the year especially since there are talks that Apple executives have been in meetings with federal regulatory boards and hiring experts in the medical industry.
Much has been said about the iPhone 6's potential to revolutionize sports and fitness with easy access to biometric feedback, sleep pattern analyzers, calorie counters and other sports related data according to Forbes. But other companies have also been going into those things. However, Apple will not stop there. The sports and fitness arena is only the beginning. They are making an uphill climb and gaining substantial momentum by connecting medical practitioners or doctors directly to patients.
We live in fast-paced world wherein every one is busy. Nobody really has the patience to wait in line at the doctor's office. Some people even ignore the symptoms they feel just to avoid wasting time with long queues. Apple saw the problem and wants to give everyone an easier solution. Health Apps will be made available. These apps will put patients directly in contact with a network of real medical professionals. Even, mental healthcare will be available through direct linking with qualified therapists. The idea is limitless.
There is an app called HealthTap that is available in the App store. It can be used with either the iPad or the iPhone. That company has already tapped 62,000 highly professional doctors who can serve the general public. Patients can do live talks with doctors who can answer medical questions anytime and anywhere.
Everyone is optimistic about this. Eventually, medical data collection will be easier. Patients will be able to send their complete medical history to a doctor with a push of a button. And, real doctors with real voices will be available for all of us. We will be able to get that personalized doctor's service without actually going to the doctor's office.
