"The Mentalist" Season 7 is expected to be back on television screens this year with more romantic tension and action. According to Deadline, the show will be coming back for its final season with 13 episodes.
After being touted to be axed, no doubt because of waning viewership numbers, it would be a relief to fans that the comedy-drama series has resumed filming, according to one of the show's cast members. Six days ago, actor Tim Kang, who plays former agent Kimball Cho, tweeted a photo of what appears to be a set along with a caption that read, "Had to be here at 5am. I'm sleepy. HA!"
Although CBS has yet to announce when would Season 7 of "The Mentalist" would be aired, it has been presumed that it would debut in mid-season this year.
But what about "Jisbon"? Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) had fans of the show melting when the pair's sexually-charged connection went one step further in Season 5, thanks to Jane's emotionally charged confession of his love for Lisbon. Season 6 also left fans melting with the obvious chemistry of the pair when Jane and Lisbon closed the series with a passionate kiss. As for Season 7, there have been strong conjectures that the storyline of this season would revolve around the personal relationships of the main character, Jane, most particularly the one he has with Lisbon.
Although show creator Bruno Heller hinted that the season finale will be something that will leave a blissful ending, some concluded with a Jane-Lisbon Nuptial, there are speculations that someone is going to get in the way and challenge the strength of their relationship.
In his interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Heller hints that there might be trouble on the horizon between the two even after the "Red John" affair has officially left the series. It could be recalled that last season, Red John, who is revealed to be Napa County sheriff/serial killer Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley) was killed by Jane.
Heller said, "After [Red John] goes, for both Lisbon and Jane, there is a palpable sense of 'What now? Do I really want to continue doing the same thing?' It left the two of them without an excuse to decide where that relationship was going. They had always been able to keep it separate. Those questions start bubbling up and the rest of the season was the resolution of those questions."
Moreover, TVLine said that the demise of "Jisbon" will also be caused by one FBI agent Michelle Vega (Josie Loren). Loren, who gained fame on ABC's "Make It Or Break It," will provide the drama Jane and Lisbon might not need in sorting whatever feelings that they have for each other. Moreover, Loren's character, said TVLine, would also provide problems to Jane, whose out-of-the-box methods would clash with her military form of obedience to rules.
