Is a new "Watch Dogs" on the way? It just might be.
According to a scoop from KpopStarz, the ending of the last "Watch Dogs" game, which introduced a new ctOS that opened up all kind of new hacking ventures, may be a hint at the introduction to a potential "Watch Dogs 2." Or, perhaps, just a new DLC, that would show a Chicago under the control of this new hacking OS.
According to KpopStarz' reports, "Watch Dogs" was originally envisioned as a franchise, not just a singular game, so a sequel would be an obvious choice for developer Ubisoft. As well, the game may advance out to a new setting, and allow players the ability to hack in a city outside of Chicago.
A tweet from Ubisoft may provide a hint for where the sequel is headed: Camden, New Jersey. An image from Ubisoft's official Twitter page reads, "The city of Camden, New Jersey had the highest crime rate in the US in 2012. 24/7 surveillance program is now in effect." Either Ubisoft is planning a series of tweets, all about surveillance in different cities, or this is a not-so-subtle hint that they're working on "Watch Dogs 2," and that it'll be set in Camden.
Only time will tell.
One thing's for sure, though- the sequel may not have protagonist Aiden Pearce. KpopStarz's report backs up a story we reported here at Venture Capital Post a few weeks back- that "Watch Dogs 2" would swap out the first game's protagonist for a potential sequel.
This would be in line with the current trend, of gamers tired of white male protagonists and looking for diversity. Presumably, if Aiden Pearce is out, a character who is neither white nor a man would be in.
