Actress and model Olivia Wilde caused a stir when she breastfeeds baby Otis in Glamour's September issue.
Olivia Wilde and her 3-month-old baby boy are featured in Glamour's September issue. In one of the photos released by the magazine, the new mom, dressed in head-to-toe couture, was captured breastfeeding her son Otis in his birthday suit. The 30 year-old looked fabulous in a Roberto Cavalli dress, Prada heels and scarf, Yossi Harari earrings and a Lanvin ring while sitting in a diner.
E! News quoted Wilde in the interview, who said that she doesn't look as trendy as her magazine photoshoot hen she's nursing in real-life. "I certainly don't really look like that when I'm [typically] breast-feeding. And there's usually a diaper involved," she confessed.
Wilde has joined several celebrities who have shared or have taken part in photos of them breastfeeding their children. E! News said that in June, "Hart of Dixie" star Jaime King also shared a photo of her breastfeeding her child to address the negative stigma about breastfeeding.
In the interview, Wilde believes that motherhood is now a part of her identity, and is thankful about the photo opportunity with her son. She said, "Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn't complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing. I don't know. Now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multifaceted woman we've been discussing-that we know we can be. You can be someone who is at once maternal and professional and sexy and self-possessed."
The photo received multiple positive comments on Twitter, where she's been called "stunning," "glamorous," and "my hero." Wilde herself thanked the magazine via social media for "knowing there's nothing indecent about feeding a hungry baby," Yahoo! reported.
Wilde also revealed her life with her fiancé, Jason Sudeikis. The two had been engaged in January 2013. She said, "We're engaged, but no specific plans yet-we just have to find the time to put it together. In many ways, a child is more of a commitment. We are fully committed and really happy as a family. And there's no definition of the 'normal family' anymore. Kids today are growing up with so many different definitions of family. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't feel any pressure to do it. But I think it will be really fun."
