The cast of the multi-awarded NBC series, NCIS, started filming for their twelfth season earlier last month, Enstars reported. Some of the cast members have been giving fans some teaser photos
Emily Wickersham, who plays newcomer Ellie Bishop, shared a photo taken from one of the scenes. The photo showed co-star Michael Weatherly (Tony Dinozzo) throwing a baby doll in the air. The photo came with the caption, "Not the babyyy!"
The actor, who looks shocked in the photo, also uploaded the same photo. The caption reads, "Hey @EmilyWickersham BABYDROP."
Weatherly has shared several teasers through hi social media account. The actor posted a picture of himself in character on July 19. The picture showed him wearing a suit and pointing a gun and went with the caption,"Guess what season it is? #NCISisBACK."
Meanwhile, showrunner Gary Glasberg recently told TVLine that the beginning of the upcoming season will focus on how Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard started with the NCIS team.
Glasberg revealed that the third episode will feature, "a Ducky origin story, where people learn all kinds of things about his past and see a younger David McCallum, so we're excited about that."
The phenomenal CBS series has been the top drama in the U.S. for the last five years. The show was also hailed as the most-watched drama worldwide, with an estimated 57.6 million viewers in 2013.
NCIS has also received numerous recognitions; one of the most recent is the International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series at the 54th Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco.
"As NCIS enters its 12th season, we couldn't be happier to learn we're now the #1 drama in the world. It's no secret that determination and teamwork have allowed our cast and crew to continue to deliver a show we're truly proud of," executive producer Gary Glasberg and actor Mark Harmon (Leroy Jethro Gibbs) said in a joint statement.
The new season will start airing on Tuesday, September 23.
