Richard Armitage who plays the leader of the Company of Dwarves, Thorin Oakenshield, in "The Hobbit" trilogy recently shared in an interview his experience working on the franchise's highly anticipated third part. "The Battle of Five Armies" is slated to release on December 18, Enstarz reports.
In an interview with ScreenCrush earlier this week, Armitage talked about playing Throin and how he imbibed the character even off set. The actor even shared that one time he had to stay in character for an entire day.
"We wanted to go camping as the Dwarves. And there was one day on "The Hobbit" when we were at the top of a mountain and we were left there all day in our costumes," Armitage shared.
"So, we sort of stayed in character all day and we did helicopter shots and that was when I thought. You know what? If I can stay with the character for 12 hours, maybe I'm inside of him? It doesn't come and go," the actor continued.
Armitage also expressed his insights about how the movie and its predecessors has influenced the film industry.
"I think when 'The Lord of the Rings' was made, it just felt like such a breakthrough in terms of cinematography," the actor said. "Since then, there's been a huge shift in the technology. I think 'The Hobbit' has been a big experiment in technology," he continued.
In other news, Academy Award-winning director Peter Jackson recently revealed that unreleased scenes from the "Lord of the Rings" might be used in the third installment of the movie.
"There are a few scenes that haven't been seen from 'Lord of The Rings,' but not many. We might try to put them back in," said Jackson. "It's a big logistical thing which hasn't wrapped our heads around. But if there's enough interest..."
"The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" will feature the conclusion of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oaknshield and the Company of Dwarves.
The movie is scheduled to premiere on December 18.
