It is already the second week of the quarter finals of the "America's Got Talent." The quarterfinals was held in Radio City Music Hall on August 5, Hollywood Life reported. It was the first time that the 12 acts are going to perform live. The following day, seven acts were sent home, with the remaining five going through the semi-finals stage.
There were high expectations from the show's acts considering that the competition is in the quarterfinals stage. However, Jessica Iannetta of nj.com wrote that the current set of acts of "America's Got Talent" were much weaker compared to the acts in the past seasons. She insinuated that the live performances gave clues as to who were going home.
"Just looking at the list of the 12 acts slated to perform tonight I could easily pick out two acts that didn't deserve to make it to the quarterfinals, not to mention the semifinals. Those acts for me were rollerblade dancer Juan Carlos and comedian Darik Santos," she predicted.
Juan Carlos the flamboyant hairdresser managed to impress the judges and secured enough votes to go through the first rounds. However, take away his golden jetpack and all the glitter, lights and dazzling outfits from his disco-themed performance, he was just merely a person showing so much sass on wheels. Meanhwhile, Santos' routine was awkward to watch, and it was obvious that he needs to go home.
Hart Dance Team did not get a vote of confidence from Heidi Klum and Howard Stern, Iannetta wrote, since the show had seen tons of them in earlier seasons. Lasso and whip performer Loop Rawlins, acoustic trio Livy, Matt & Sammy, salsa dancers John & Andrew, and opera duo Acte II did not make it to the next round.
According to realityrewind.com, hand balancer Andrey Moraru, card magician Mat Franco, singers Jaycob Curlee and Mara Justine. Aerial Animation garnered the loudest applause during the live performances and could be the act to beat in the competition this year. Dubbed as the most original act this season, Iannetta said that the combination of stunts by aerial dancer Abigail Baird, music, moving animation and a great storyline per performance could signal that the show might be proclaiming a one-of-a-kind act as this year's winner.
Next week, "AGT" would be showcasing another set of 12 acts. Did you agree with the results?
