Fans of "Thor" may have to wait longer until they see the movie's third and last sequel, "Thor 3," Movie News Guide reports. It was revealed that the third film featuring the demigod Avenger has not started production yet.
Early this year, it was announced that Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle will be writing the screenplay for "Thor 3".
Fans assumed that the movie will be slated for release over the two 2016 release dates reserved by Marvel. However, recent announcements from the movie studio revealed that movie-goers will have to wait until 2017 to see the film.
At the recently concluded Comic-Con 2014 in San Diego, Marvel Studios teased about the notions on their upcoming movies. However, they made no concrete details as to the dates of production and release of their movies.
The movie studio's presentations focused on the previews and teasers of the "Avengers 2" and "Ant-Man." Marvel also confirmed "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" release in 2017. "Thor" fans in attendance where left wondering when the sequel's production will start production or whether it will still push through at all.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Chris Hemsworth at the Comic-Con as published on Screen Crush, the actor said, "I hope we're doing another one. I think we're doing another one. I don't know anything official as of yet, but I'm looking forward to it."
Hemsworth also said that there is still a lot of time for him to attend to other things other than reprising his role as the mighty half-god superhero. Recently, the actor signed up for "The Huntsman," the prequel of "Snow White and the Huntsman."
In other news, the film studio has reportedly given the actor the chance exit from the movie series. This news made better sense when Marvel recently revealed that they are handing the Thor mantle to a female character.
A part of the official press release by Marvel editor Wil Moss reads, "The inscription on Thor's hammer reads 'Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.' Well it's time to update that inscription. The new Thor continues Marvel's proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this new Thor isn't a temporary female substitute--she's now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!"
