Marvel revealed a number of footage and props for their upcoming movie, "Avengers: Age of Ultron," at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, Enstars reports. The first footage revealed Iron Man looking over a devastated group of Avengers. Also shown was the broken shield of Captain America.
"The final shot of the preview footage revealed actor Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, surveying the 'the galactic wasteland of some destroyed planet,' surrounded by the rest of the Avengers as they lay dead at his feet," The Inquistr reported.
"The sequence, which may allude to the powers of Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, also showed Captain America's shield, battle-damaged and broken."
Having the Captain America as the character who dies in the "Avengers" is not at all a surprise to Chris Evans fans, who know about the actor's contract with Marvel. The actor has said he would be done with acting after the completion of his six-film deal with Marvel. His Marvel films so far include "Captain America," "Avengers," and "Captain America 2."
Marvel Chief Creative Ofiicer Joe Quesada, however, confirmed that Evans is exiting "Captain America." and announced that the actor will be replaced by Sam Wilson.
Evans supposedly has three more Marvel movies to do. These are presumably a standalone "Captain America" movie and two sequels of the "Avengers" series.
A Marvel editor commented recently, "Steve (Evans) spirit is as willing as ever, but his body is no longer up to the task of being Captain America."
Meanwhile, Marvel and DC Comics are both gearing up for a cinema battle between "Captain America 3" and "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," both having the same premiere date in 2016.
Marvel Comics president Kevin Feige says, "We are doing what we've always done, which is sticking to our plan and sticking to our vision for the movies going forward and we have a very large vision that we're working on for Cap 3 and for all the three movies and just because another movie plops down onto one of ours doesn't mean we are going to alter that. Maybe we should, but we're not going to."
