Director Kenneth Brannagh recently revealed to RumorFix about the treatment for Disney's live-action flick "Cinderella."
According to Branagh, the storyline for the film will not deviate from the original story. The film will be released on March 2015. He told the gossip site, "When I re-read the fairytale and I was so struck about how it effects us - we all identify. In this new Disney live action Cinderella her mother advises her to have courage and be kind and the message of the picture has that - as if goodness was a super-power. This Disney Cinderella will be reliant on finding those magical qualities inside yourself - it is a very positive thought for everybody."
Hallels said Disney has based the storyline of the movie from "Cendrillon," the original 1697 fairy tale written by Charles Perrault. The movie will be told in Kit, aka Prince Charming's point of view. Prince Charming will be played by Richard Madden, who is known for his role as Robb Stark in the HBO hit "Game of Thrones."
Eric Seinberg of Cinema Blend was one of those who got to watch the special screening of some of the film's footage during this year's Comic-Con. He wrote, "While we were told before the footage that some of the special effects had yet to be completed and that the movie is still very much a work in process, I was definitely impressed by what I saw. There is an interesting mix of tones at work, as heavy drama is lightened by some funny dialogue and rapport, and the film looks gorgeously shot. Of course, this is the footage that Disney wanted us to see in order to get us excited for the film, but my interest is definitely piqued."
"Downtown Abbey"s Lily James will play the title role of Ella. according to KPopStarz, Emma Watson was first offered the role, but had to drop out of the project due to her commitment to a "Beauty and the Beast" adaptation. Gabriella Wilde, Saoirse Ronan and Alicia Vikander were said to have been offered the part as well.
The other cast members in the movie are Cate Blanchette as the wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine, Holliday Grainger and Sophie McSherra as Cinderella's wicked stepsisters Anastacia and Drizella, Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother, Stellan Skarsgard as the Grand Duke, Derek Jacobi as the King, Nonzo Anosie as the Captain, and Hayley Atwell and Ben Chaplin as Cinderella's mother and father.
