There are some majors names in contention for the upcoming reboot of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." Here at Venture Capital Post, we reported that two of the names in the running for a starring role in the reboot where "The Hunger Games" lead Liam Hemsworth, and "Twilight" favorite Taylor Lautner.
Both were in consideration for the Red Ranger role, although Chloe Grace Moretz, Jack Gleeson, and Liam Neeson are also in the running for other parts.
Another actor has just joined the casting fray for "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," although he's not nearly as high-profile as the names listed above. From EnStars, we now know that Austin St. John might be up for a part in the newest version of "Power Rangers."
St. John, of course played the Red Ranger in the original series- and might be up for a role in the new one. Nothing major; most likely a cameo or a smaller role. EnStars does mention, however, that the screenplay is still not close to being finished, and that official casting likely won't be confirmed until the script is done.
For now, all casting will have to remain tenative.
Recently, on his Facebook page, St. John posted the following message:
"IIIIIFFFFFF?????? IF I was to return to Power Rangers in ANY capacity....????? IF???? What would you choose for me? Suit up, Mentor, Cameo, Leader, Sixth Ranger, Evil Jason?????? What would you choose? Who would the enemy be??? Who would be involved in the final epic battle of the series or movie???!!! Tell me and those that ARE WATCHING>>>>>:)-ASJ"
It definitely sounds like St. John is receptive to returning to the franchise (he hasn't had steady acting work in quite a while), but who knows if the studios behind "Might Morphin Power Rangers" decide if St. John is the right fit for the reboot.
Check back soon- once the script is finalized, there's sure to be a ton of "Power Rangers" news, as the sequel begins casting its rangers in earnest.
