"The Strain" Spoilers: Mass Vampire Panic, Season Two's Creatures [Video]

By

FX's "The Strain" is quickly becoming the biggest series of the summer. Following a group of CDC doctors as they struggle to contain a mass vampire outbreak, the series is all about new kinds of vampires- gory, creative, disgusting creatures that make past memories of "Twilight" completely obsolete.

According to Classicalite, the synopsis for the latest episode of "The Strain" reads as follows:

"Eph joins Setrakian's push for a quarantine. Meanwhile, a medical emergency threatens Palmer's plan."

Which makes sense, given that the episode in question sees the vampires finally take to the streets and begin feeding on human en masse. Presumably, in later episodes, we'll see even more vampires feeding on humans, and humans starting to fight back in bigger numbers.

Guillermo del Toro, who created the series (and the novels it's based on) has grand designs for "The Strain's" second season- telling Zap2it that he'd like to come back and film much more of the second season, including most of the creature effects.

"Rather than give 10-15 days on one episode, I'd rather be with every director as much as I can," said Del Toro. "[I want to] stay available every day on the set. It's been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had and I've learned you need to be there."

The director later added, "I've cleared my schedule. I don't shoot anything until 2015 because I need to be there if they give us a second season."

Del Toro is perhaps best known for his creature designs and creature horror, so having him focus more in that area for Season Two of "The Strain" can only be a good thing.

Corey Stoll recently talked to Variety, to gush about how much he enjoys working with Del Toro:

"But that's why I choose to work with the best people in their fields, because the realities of shooting anything, if you start to become self-conscious, [you feel] ridiculous, and you just can't fixate on that. It's a big game of make believe, and it's a big leap of faith, and the best way to protect yourself is to commit and to work with people who are great. I've really lucked out a lot in my career, so far, trying to follow those two ideas."
