Amazingly, Phoenix Suns restricted free agent guard Eric Bledsoe has yet to receive a single offer sheet from any team this summer in the free agency. He would be content though, if the Suns were to offer him a max contract but the team is only willing to offer him less ($48 million for 4 years) from the $80 million 5 year deal that he wants. Both camps were unable to come into terms resulting in a rift in what should have been a solid relationship.
But if their is a team that can offer Bledsoe the deal that he wants its the Milwaukee Bucks as Charlie Adams of Hoops Rumors points out:
The Bucks were one team said to have interest in Bledsoe, but they'd need to clear some cap space in order to give him the type of money he's looking for. The Sixers possess the cap room to extend a max offer Bledsoe's way, but they haven't been reported to have any interest.
As it stands though, Bledsoe wont be getting paid this summer but if he is patient enough he could play it out this season and wait for next year when he becomes an unrestricted free agent where he is guaranteed to draw special attention from a lot of teams around the league. The big question for him therefore, is whether or not he is willing to wait and take a pay cut for the meantime. And now its turning out that the explosive guard may just be considering playing the waiting game just like what his fellow restricted free agent Greg Monroe plans to do per USA Today:
The person also said Bledsoe, 24, strongly is considering signing the Suns' qualifying offer for $3.726 million - good for the 2014-15 season - to become an unrestricted free agent after next summer. That's precisely what Detroit Pistons forward-center Monroe plans to do. Monroe has informed the Pistons he plans to sign the qualifying offer ($5.479 million)for one season, spend 2014-15 in Detroit and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
Its seven weeks since the 2014 free agency started and we are still not certain of Eric Bledsoe's future. Will Bledsoe and the Suns eventually reach an agreement? Or will Bledsoe accept the one year qualifying offer from the Suns and become a restricted free agent next summer in the 2015 free agency?
