"Doom 4" Update: Bigger Guns, Gorier Moves, Release Date in 2015 [Video]

"Doom 4," also known under the new title "DOOM," has been slowly progressing forward, but a new update in production is a positive sign for those who can't wait to start blowing up demons with the biggest guns possible.

There's still no release date for the first-person shooter, but according to a piece in KpopStarz, the game is over halfway through production, due to the quality of the footage that id Software has been showing off from the game.

A report in PC Gamer, however, adds a ton of new details to the upcoming game. According to their report, the sequel/reboot is taking notes from id's recent "Wolfenstein: The New Order" and outfitting players with the largest guns possible. As well, new modes of transportation like jetpacks and double jumps, to make the player more mobile.

Strafing will also be a huge part of the game, which should definitely up the player's ability to blast demons with huge weapons. "Doom 3," for example, didn't let the player move with nearly that level of freedom.

The game's monsters have been beefed up in a similar way- hopefully, they'll tower over the player and create some massive fighting sequences. Considering id is also adding in gory finishing moves to dismember the monster characters, there should be some terrific monster action in the sequel

PC Gamer also speculates that the game's release date might come in the same spring window as "Wolfenstein," which may actually occur next year in 2015.

However, Peter Hines of Bethesday is taking a humble approach to designing the next "Doom" game.

"Because it's been so long since the last 'Doom' game. We are going in as if we need to prove ourselves all over again. We have no free passes. Nobody will assume this is going to be awesome.

We are going to have to prove that this is something that's going to be fun and different that you need to pay attention to. That has to be our default position, we can't be: 'It's Doom, of course you're going to play it'. But that just makes us work harder."
