Apple's release of its refreshed flagship devices is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 with Retina display are Apple's bid to maintain their position as one of the leaders in the tech industry. Reports about the features of these upcoming flagship releases continue to resurface giving tech fans some interesting bits to be excited about. Here is a roundup of releases to be expected from Apple.
iPhone 6 to be the Biggest Launch of the Year
The iPhone 6 has been one of the hottest topics in the tech world, mainly because it will supposedly represent Apple's change in approach to smartphones. Unlike the iPhone 5 and 5s, which were considered upgrades, the upcoming flagship features a fresh take in terms of premium features both outside and under the hood. Because of this, the iPhone 6 is believed to be Apple's biggest launch of the year.
The Daily Mail has released the latest leak about the iPhone 6 from Russian designers Feld and Wolk. The leaked images show the rumored streamlined volume buttons clearly. The leaked image also shows the iPhone 6 to have a protruding camera unlike its predecessors. If the leak is to be believed, this is because the camera features rings where lenses can be attached. As previously reported, Apple is believed to use their Liquidmetal alloy for embedding their logo. Although Apple has not made any official announcements, the iPhone 6 is expected to be launched in their September 9 event, with delays for other iPad versions this October.
iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 with Retina Display Reportedly in Production
Bloomberg reports that Apple's upcoming iPad models are already in production, and are expected to be done in time for Apple's September 9 event. The 7.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 models are reportedly being produced large-scale in Asia, while the iPad Mini 3 with Retina display is in assembly stage.
The iPad Air 2 is believed to have an anti-relective panel, which should help reduce power consumption. It is also expected to carry the new A8 processor and the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The iPad Mini 3, meanwhile, is expected to feature Retina display, and the same A8 processor and Touch ID fingerprint sensor along with the iOS 8.
According to Breathecast, predictions for the release of these iPad flagships vary, with the earliest being pegged at October 2014 and the latest being the first quarter of next year.
