It is still a month to go before The Good Wife returns to CBS, but fans have already been bombarded with information on what they should expect from the upcoming season of the legal/political drama.
TVLine reported late last week that the show will be welcoming The Following star, Connie Nielsen as a new addition to the cast. Nielsen will be playing Ramona, who is described as a smart, beautiful, attorney with far-reaching Cook County connections.
In addition to this, E! Online reported that Taye Diggs will be joining the cast. Diggs' character, Dean Levine-Wilkins, is described as a "meticulous and talented equity partner" at the firm. Wilkins, together with Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski,) will transfer to Florrick/Agos. These details left fans speculate that the character could replace Diane at the Lockhart/Gardner firm.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator, Robert King hopes that Michael J. Fox might reprise his role as Louis Canning in the next season. He added that fans might see more of the character's relationship with Alicia.
"That is our hope," said King. "I think Michael has suggested his interest in returning. We don't know for how many episodes and how often we can get him, but we'd like him [to come back]."
Meanwhile Juliana Marguiles, who plays Alicia Florrick, recently shared some details about her character in the upcoming sixth season. In the same interview with Entertianment Weekly, Marguiles said, "She is looking for something else, and I don't know if it's just about the firm or her life, but everything seems to be difficult. I think she is at the end of her tether, so to speak.... Eli poses a question to [Alicia] that comes out of thin air and totally shocks her. And you're sort of left with this idea of, "Wait, why wouldn't I do that?" What it does, is it brings politics back into the foreground, and it makes for a wonderful platform to jump off of for the next season."
The highlight of the Season 5 finale, titled "A Weird Year" was Eli Gould (Alan Cumming) proposing her to run as State's Attorney candidate.
The Good Wife Season 6 will premiere on September 21 on CBS.
